The apparently paradoxical behaviour of facile exchange (kinetic lability) of tightly bound (thermodynamic stability) zinc ions in the enzyme IMP-1 metallo-beta-lactamase with Zn-68 and cadmium ions, as indicated by in-torch vaporization inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ITV-ICP-MS) and electrospray-ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), is consistent with the involvement of a third metal ion in promoting Lewis acid/base type exchange processes. 相似文献

A simple general approach to the construction of measures on path space is developed. It is used for the path integral representation of evolutionary equations including Feller processes, the Schro¨dinger equation, and dissipative Schro¨dinger equations. Saccharides are the most common carbon source for Streptococcus thermophilus, which is a widely used bacterium in the production of fermented dairy products. The performance of the strain is influenced by the consumption of different saccharides during fermentation. Therefore, a precise measurement of the concentrations of saccharides in the fermentation media is essential. An 18-min long method with limits of quantitation in the range of 0.159–0.704 mg/L and with 13C labelled internal standards employing hydrophilic interaction chromatography coupled to mass spectrometric detection-(HILIC-LC-MS) allowed for simultaneous quantification of five saccharides: fructose, glucose, galactose, sucrose, and lactose in the fermentation samples. The method included a four-step sample preparation protocol, which could be easily applied to high-throughput analysis. The developed method was validated and applied to the fermentation samples produced by Streptococcus thermophilus. 相似文献

The Cd and Zn total body burden of individual, up to 7-day-old aquatic organisms (Hyalella azteca benthic amphipod) with an average volume of approximately 100 nL was determined simultaneously by using rhenium-cup (Re-cup) in-torch vaporization (ITV) sample introduction and an axially viewed inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) system. The direct elemental analysis capabilities of this system (i.e., no sample digestion) reduced sample preparation time, eliminated contamination concerns from the digestion reagent and, owing to its detection limits (e.g., in the low pg range for Cd and Zn), vit enabled simultaneous determinations of Cd and Zn in individual, neonate and young juvenile specimens barely visible to the unaided eye (e.g., nearly microscopic). As for calibration, liquid standards and the standard additions method were tested. Both methods gave comparable results, thus indicating that in this case liquid standards can be employed for calibration, and in the process making use of the standard additions method unnecessary. Overall, the ITV-ICP-AES approach by-passed the time-consuming acid digestions, eliminated the potential for contamination from the digestion reagents, improved considerably the speed of acquisition of analytical information and enabled simultaneous determinations of two elements using individual biological specimens. 相似文献

Symmetric nets are affine resolvable designs whose duals are also affine. It is shown that. up to isomorphism, there are exactly four symmetric (3, 3)-nets (v=b=27,k=9), and exactly two inequivalent 9×9 generalized Hadamard matrices over the group of order 3. The symmetric (3, 3)-nets are found as subnets of affine resolvable 2-(27, 9, 4) designs. Ten of the 68 non-isomorphic affine resolvable 2-(27, 9, 4) designs are not extensions of symmetric (3, 3)-subnets, providing the first examples of affine 2-(q3, q2, q2–1/q–1) designs without symmetric (q, q)-subnets. 相似文献

A liquid crystal (LC) alignment technique has been developed that allows local control of the polar pretilt angle over the range of 0–90°. This was achieved through the formation of a polymer network localised in the vicinity of the LC cell substrates. The network was formed as a result of in situ UV-induced polymerisation of a photo-reactive monomer added at concentrations of 0.5–1%. Localisation of the polymer network at the LC–substrate boundary was achieved by the application of a high voltage before polymerisation. The resultant pretilt angle was determined by the voltage applied during the polymerisation and/or the duration of the voltage application before the polymerisation step. The desired pretilt angle could be set over a small area of the sample, which allows the fabrication of LC devices with spatially variable optical retardation. Using this method we fabricated a converging lens, a bi-prism, and a phase diffraction grating with resolution greater than 50 lines mm?1. 相似文献
